What Is Your Idea Of Country Bathroom Remodeling?

When you say “country bathroom remodeling project”, you get your idea of what “country” means. This idea can be a lot different from what an interior designer or contractor has in mind. For some, country bathroom remodeling means a lot of gingham patterns, frills and flowers. For others, country bathroom renovation might mean following a cowboy theme. For still others, country bathroom remodeling means putting another lick of paint on the outhouse.

Never Assume

If you are hiring an interior designer or contractor to redo your bathrooms, be sure know exactly what they are talking about. And get everything in writing. Your time and their time will be wasted if you two can’t communicate clearly. Both your pocketbook and your bathroom will suffer for it. Get them to clearly explain to you what they have in mind to do with your bathroom. If they won’t explain, get someone else. Considering the amount of money you are paying, you have the right to work with someone you can communicate with.

Keep An Open Mind

Although you might have a fixed idea of what your finished country bathroom remodeling project will look like, not all of your ideas might be affordable or practical. For example, if your bathroom is on the top floor, weight of materials is a major consideration, so nothing goes plunging through to the floors below. That would definitely put a crimp in the value of your home.

Perhaps you find a great idea from watching television, or going on a home repair website, or leafing through a glossy magazine. Don’t think, “Well, it’s too late – the plans are drawn up.” Take the picture or idea to the contractor, interior designer or handyman who is doing the renovation. They might be able to incorporate it. You never know if you don’t ask.

Professionals with years of experience remodeling bathrooms will often suggest what has worked with other clients’ country bathroom remodeling projects. Listen to them. They might know of a washable wallpaper which would work better than new paint, or be able to paint the walls in more compatible colors. They also will be more knowledgeable of the local building codes and how much materials currently cost. Perhaps you are better off with a fiberglass tub instead of imported Italian marble.

Professional interior designers and contractors want to work with you in order to make you happy and maybe give them repeat business. Doing a country bathroom remodeling project should be a collaborative, not combative, effort.
