Bathroom Renovation Hints That Make The Job More Fun

When involved in a do-it-yourself bathroom project there are a few things to keep in mind before and during the project. Some of the bathroom renovation hints may seem like no-brainers, but unless you include them in your plans, they may be overlooked. Possibly the best of the bathroom renovation hints is to not begin any phase of the project that you cannot walk away from and leave the room available for use. Since most members of the family will need to use it once in awhile, their needs must be considered, especially if there is only one bathroom in the house.

With that in mind, it should also be noted that it is nice to warn people before certain functions are cut off. For example, one of the bathroom renovation hints is to let people know that at a certain time the commode will be disconnected, to give them a chance to use it if necessary, instead of having to run to a neighbor’s house or to the gas station. For those with two bathrooms this probably will not be an issue, but still letting them know ahead of time is a nice gesture.

Insure you know what you are doing before you start can prevent frustration and the need to lose the bathroom for possibly several days when you call in an expert. While loads of resources are filled with bathroom renovation hints, if you cannot finish a segment of the job and have to hire someone, it may be days before they show up and bail you out of trouble.

Mark All Pipes And Electric Wires

When disconnecting a sink or light, be sure to mark the parts, especially if different fixtures are going to be installed. Marking water pipes at the floor can insure they are connected properly when the new sink and pipes are installed. Also, bathroom renovation hints advise to make sure the water is turned off before disconnecting the faucets.

For your own safety, when you turn off the electricity to change a light fixture, tape a note to the breaker box advising the family what has been done. In the event you have to run out for a minute and someone else comes home, they may flip the breaker back on without you knowing about it. When you go back to the job, it can be real shock if you think the power is still turned off.
